Abstract

The integration of the Internet of Things (IoT) into computer engineering represents a transformative shift in both technological development and educational practice. IoT enables interconnected systems that combine hardware, software, networking, and data analytics, fostering interdisciplinary learning and real-world problem-solving skills among students. This integration enhances experiential learning and aligns academic programs with growing industry demands for IoT expertise. However, challenges such as the absence of standardized curricula, limited resources, and critical security and privacy concerns hinder its effective implementation, particularly in developing regions. Emerging technologies like artificial intelligence, edge computing, and 5G further expand IoT capabilities, emphasizing the need for adaptive and forward-looking educational frameworks. Ultimately, strategic collaboration, curriculum innovation, and infrastructure investment are essential to fully realize IoT’s potential in modernizing computer engineering education.
