Abstract

This study explores how digital symbols—emojis, hashtags, and shorthand—reshape communication in the Philippine context. These tools enhance emotional expression, reinforce cultural identity, and facilitate online community engagement while reflecting broader linguistic shifts driven by technology. However, challenges of misinterpretation highlight the need for digital literacy to ensure culturally sensitive and effective communication.
